Martin Luther translated a German version of the Bible using Erasmus’ Greek NT.English Bible History

The defining event of the reformation was when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses of Contention to the Wittenberg Door. Luther, who would be exiled in the months after the Diet of Worms Council in 1521, translated the New Testament into German from Erasmus' Greek/Latin New Testament, publishing it in 1522.

Although not directly related to the first English translation, Martin Luther's ideas and translation were a great influence on William Tyndale.
