1. Lesson Activities.

You will find a lesson plan, activity, printable artwork, games and illustrations for 254 stories in the Bible.

Lesson plans - A list of important points that you should review for most of the stories in the Bible. You should have an important message to get accross before you plan one of your Sunday school activities that is supposed to support the teaching portion of the lesson.
Printable activities - This is the list of Sunday school activities that can reinforce your lesson. From 3D models of the tabernacle, to printable coloring books to games that you can print, these Sunday school activities will save your hours of work, especially if you are not the creative type of teacher.

2. Sunday School Worksheets.

Be careful not to over-use puzzles. They lose their effectiveness if you do them every week. With these programs you can turn a Bible vese a Sunday School activity in a 3 mouse clicks. If you want to save even more time, select one of the 325 worksheets that has already been created for you.

3. Online Study Bible

Bible search, commentary, dictionary and other tools to help you prepare a lesson for your next class. Although the Study Bible doesn't count as one of the Sunday school activities, it is important that a Sunday school teacher does more preparation in understanding the scripture than in creating a craft, puzzle or some other interesting Sunday school activity. The teacher needs to know what God's intentions were by reading the scripture rather than trying to apply a certain pre-conceived idea.

Who recognizes overseers in a new assembly?

Titus identified (Titus 1:5," TARGET="_blank">Titus 1:5, "ordain," appoint, designate) elders in assemblies where no oversight existed. The authority for this came from the Word of God, not apostolic authority. He was dependent on God for the wisdom required. To preserve each assembly, Titus used the inspired guidelines from Paul to point out overseers the Spirit produced. Each assembly recognized these men as elders.

God used experienced hands to plant the assemblies whose history appears in the New Testament, so the pattern seems clear. Where God uses men in making disciples (Matthew 28:19)," TARGET="_blank">Matthew 28:19), those men also teach assembly truth. They discern when God has formed an assembly with these believers. Later, as with Titus, they identify those who exhibit maturing characteristics of a shepherd. Heeding Proverbs 15:22," TARGET="_blank">Proverbs 15:22, they receive counsel from spiritually mature men. In light of 1 Timothy 3:6," TARGET="_blank">1 Timothy 3:6, they wait for appropriate evidences of spiritual maturity in potential elders.

Does the Bible address the speech and dress of those speaking in the assembly?

Two principles guide us: those who speak are speaking for God (1 Peter 4: 11);" TARGET="_blank">1 Peter 4: 11); men like Elijah and John the Baptist, who spoke for God, dressed accordingly. Their clothing (2 Kings 1:8;" TARGET="_blank">2 Kings 1:8; Matthew 3:4)" TARGET="_blank">Matthew 3:4) was not luxurious (Matthew 11:8)" TARGET="_blank">Matthew 11:8) but rough (Zechariah 13:4)," TARGET="_blank">Zechariah 13:4), not reflecting the current trends but the character of their message. They were neither fashion plates or non-conformists. John preached repentance; his locale, locust diet, and leather girdle underlined this.

Clerical garb enhances position; flamboyant style flaunts personality; luxurious clothing exalts wealth; informal dress disparages reverence. Each of these in its own way dishonors Christ.

Nowadays, stiff formality may be distasteful to some and off-handedness or slang may appeal to others. However, such informality in our language and in our appearance conforms to the current spirit that belittles authority; it is therefore unsuitable for ministry and gospel preaching. Both the messenger and his message must underscore God's presence and the weight of speaking for God.

How can the content of gospel messages be made interesting?

Of first importance is the spiritual power of the message (1 Corinthians 2:4)." TARGET="_blank">1 Corinthians 2:4). Second is its clarity (1 Corinthians 14:8,9)." TARGET="_blank">1 Corinthians 14:8,9). For a message to reach an unbeliever, it must capture and retain his attention. Since the gospel is for the benefit of believers (Ephesians 4:12)," TARGET="_blank">Ephesians 4:12), they also deserve an interesting presentation of this beloved message.

True and relevant illustrations develop interest and fasten truth in the memory. They are supplements, however; Scripture is central. Variety is important, but that doesn’t require novel passages. The power of a passage is not in what is forced into it, but in what is found within it (Hebrews 4:12);" TARGET="_blank">Hebrews 4:12); preaching communicates that power. The New Testament is the primary resource for a New Testament gospel. Many gospel principles and helpful illustrations come from the Old Testament, but their power is in their relationship to New Testament truth. The parables of the Lord and His miracles are rich resources. His interviews with individuals are instructive. The messages in Acts provide rich material for preaching. Great gospel texts, in both the Old and New Testament, are a staple for preaching. Preaching on Ephesians 2:8, 9," TARGET="_blank">Ephesians 2:8, 9, for instance, could take various forms: illustrated by the uplifted serpent or by David and Mephibosheth (2 Samuel 9);" TARGET="_blank">2 Samuel 9); viewed from the standpoint of the Ephesians who first heard it; developed from the three major words of the text (grace, faith, saved); unified with all the Bible by tracing the thread of "grace" which runs through the New Testament or the entire Bible; compared to the Lord’s conversation with the rich, young ruler. The Bible’s living truth should be vibrant in our lives and our preaching.

Genesis, often called "the seed plot of the Bible," lays the foundation for all God's revealed works, indicating the purpose of matter, man, and marriage. Without the Fall, the rest of Scripture unravels. Gods plans for human government and Israel flow from Genesis. Many Bible doctrines are first mentioned in Genesis.

In the relatively short book of Daniel lies the "backbone of prophecy" (Daniel 9)." TARGET="_blank">Daniel 9). It unfolds the "Times of the Gentiles." The prophetic material in Matthew and the Revelation is closely related to Daniel.

Where does the Lord intend me to focus my service?

All service begins with devotion to the Lord; serving Him is the ultimate. The Law teaches us this principle: love for God is first and flows out in love for our neighbor (Mark 12:29-31;" TARGET="_blank">Mark 12:29-31; Romans 13:8-10)." TARGET="_blank">Romans 13:8-10). Never did an act of service bring such glory and honor to God as the death of the cross (Philippians 2:6-8)." TARGET="_blank">Philippians 2:6-8). Never has an act of service brought such benefit to others: "With His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5)." TARGET="_blank">Isaiah 53:5).

The sphere in which we express that service is the assembly. Believers are "to do good and to communicate." This injunction is in the context of an assembly, with submission to elders following it and offerings of praise "outside the camp" preceding it (Hebrews 13:13-17;" TARGET="_blank">Hebrews 13:13-17; see also 10:25). The self-sacrificing love that is kind to others ( 1Corinthians 13)" TARGET="_blank">1Corinthians 13) was essential to the functioning of the Corinthian assembly.

Of course, our service is not limited to the four walls of an assembly’s meeting place. "Let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10)." TARGET="_blank">Galatians 6:10). When Paul wrote, essentially all "the household of faith" was in the various assemblies then existing. God intends for our service to focus on the assembly and to flow out from there.

Any service we render to others then must be consistent with the principles of the assembly and as an extension of the assembly’s testimony. That is true of every facet of our lives and will not keep us from serving, but it will channel our service. Joining in any other association or taking any other name than the Lord Jesus Christ in order to serve others denies the sufficiency of the design of God’s house to fulfill our Christian service.

For studying the Bible by these principles, the following books give assistance with word meanings: Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words; Unger's Bible Dictionary (more like an encyclopedia); Strong's Exhaustive Concordance or Young's Analytical Concordance (preferably both).
