Sunday School Lesson 125 Joseph is Falsely Accused and Put into Prison

Lesson: 125

Lesson Name: Joseph is Falsely Accused and Put in Prison
Theme: The Conscience: How it's Regulated and Activated

Reading: Genesis 39:1-23

Memory Verse: Genesis 42:18
Memory Verse Text: Joseph said unto them. . . "I fear God."

Attention Getter: Use a compass and show how it is affected by a magnet.  What regulates it?  What guides us?  A conscience regulated by God's Word.

Talking Points:

Point 1: In his work in Potiphar's house, the Lord was with Joseph.  Potiphar was pleased with Joseph and trusted him with everything he had.  In turn, the Lord blessed Potiphar for honoring Joseph.
Point 2: Potiphar's wife was attracted to Joseph for another reason.  Joseph was far from home and life had given him a rough deal, yet still HE REFUSED to give in to her.  Why?  "This (is) great wickedness, and SIN AGAINST GOD" (Gen. 39:9).
Point 3: Even though Joseph remained faithful, he was falsely accused.  His master, Potiphar, should have known better and may have ordinarily executed a man accused as Joseph was, but instead he was unjustly imprisoned.
Point 4: Note: Even in prison, the Lord was with Joseph and gave him favor (Gen. 39:21).
