Sunday School Lesson 926 Progress in Salvation

LESSON 7: PROGRESSIONS OF OUR SALVATION

Verse center: Luke 1:77: To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins.

Review center: Play the game from lesson 4 adding verses 5,6 & 7 to it.

Visual Aids: Make poster of ; Past, Present and Future progressions; of What happens when we sin and how to grow in grace. Put “(1)Titus 2: 11,12,13 at the top and, (2) What happens to our Sins; under it and (3) Past, Present and Future under it and ; (4) Salvation from the penalty of sin- under Past; Sanctification from the power of sin- under Present; Glorification from the presence of sin -under Future. Make a 8x11 green tree from construction paper. (Can use white print paper; fold in half lengthwise, draw trunk and circle for top of tree. Trace onto green const. paper.) Write “Grow in Grace” II Peter 3:18 on it.

Aims: That older students would be able to quote the underlined part of the verse and the three progressions; salvation; sanctification; and glorification.

LESSON: Titus 2:11,12,13 speaks of 3 progressions of Salvation that happens to every person that gets saved.

Past: Salvation- from the penalty of Sin: vs. 11: “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.”

Present: Sanctification- from the power of sin. vs. 12 “Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;” (Romans 7:18, 1 John 1:8, 1 Corinthians 6:11, 1 John 1:6,7 Romans 6:7 , Galatians 5:16, 17) What happens when we sin?

1. Our Fellowship with God and others is broken. I Jn 3:21 Beloved if our heart condemn us not, then we have confidence toward God.

2. Our Joy goes away.

3. God chastens us till we repent. Hebrews 12:6,7

How to grow in grace:

1. Study- 2 Timothy 2:15, Psalm 119:11

2. Pray without ceasing -1 Thessalonians 5:17..

3. Witness- Acts 1:18.

Future: Glorification- from the presence of sin. vs. 13 “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ“; He will take us to heaven either when we die or at the rapture.

Art Supplies: “Snowman” page (2-7), small pieces of fabric, cotton, a piece of const paper (8x11- light blue) for mounting.

Art Project: Color (by number if desired, red-1; yellow-2; blue-3; brown-5, black-6, orange-7, purple-8, white-9.) the Snowman. Cut out the snowman. Cut a strip of fabric for a scarf and glue on around the snowman’s neck. Choose another color of const. paper and glue the snowman to it. Glue cotton on the snowman. Write “Salvation, Sanctification, and Glorification” on the side.
