eternal securityEternal Security - Can a believer be lost? What about sin in a Christian's life? Does the work of Christ mean a person is saved "forever"? What about future sins? Is once-saved-always-saved a dangerous teaching? What happens if I choose to leave God?  These and other questions about the Gospel are answered in this work by Harry Ironside. (more)
Sunday School Lesson 126 Joseph Interprets Dreams Print E-mail

Lesson: 126 Lesson Name: The Dream Interpreter
Theme: Two Ways

Reading: Genesis 40:1-23

Memory Verse: Daniel 2:28
Memory Verse Text: There is a God that revealeth secrets.

Point 1: Two others were imprisoned justly with Joseph because of what they had done; they deserved it.  Joseph, like the Lord Jesus, "was numbered with the transgressors" (Isaiah 53:12).
Point 2: In spite of his own troubles, Joseph noticed the other prisoners' sad faces (Gen. 40:7).  With God's help, he was able to reveal the meaning of their dreams.
Point 3: One prisoner was to be freed and the other was to be hung, similar to the thieves on the crosses; one was saved and one was forever lost.  Which one was freed? The prisoner with the cup, which was a reminder of shed blood.  Which one died?  The prisoner with the baked goods, which was a reminder of man's best efforts.
Point 4: Joseph asked only to be remembered, but he was forgotten.

Notes: This was the first hanging in the Bible, Judas was the last!
