Sunday School Lesson 221 Nadab and Abihu are judged

Lesson: 221 Lesson Name: Judgement of the Two Men
Theme: God is Holy

Reading: Leviticus 10:1-11

Memory Verse: Psalm 89:7
Memory Verse Text: God is greatly to be feared.

Point 1: Aaron's sons, Nadab and Abihu, were very privileged.  Leviticus 10:8-11 shows us that Aaron should have taught his sons God's standards and rules, but he failed to convey His great truths.  What a tremendous cost for failing to teach them... the death of his two sons!
Point 2: Application: A person cannot come before the Lord any way they want.  God is not like any other; He is altogether Holy and He deserves our total respect.  God is not a man.
Point 3: Note that God did not give any warning of what He was going to do, and as a result, disaster not only came with finality, it came suddenly.  God has taken great care to reveal His Character to us in His Word.
Point 4: Nadab and Abihu's bodies were no longer fit to be within the camp, so they were carried out.  God said that there was to be no mourning for them; mourning would have shown tolerance and sympathy for the sinner who had so grossly offended God by not giving Him the due reverence and respect.

Notes: Our attitudes, thoughts, words, and actions should all be pleasing to God.  Discuss how we can make a difference by communing with God in His Presence, listening to His Word, and praying.
