Themes Found Out CAUGHT BY A CALL In 1993, James Jordan, the father of Michael Jordan, was driving in Eastern North Carolina. He became sleepy, so he decided to pull over and take a short rest. While he was sleeping, two men crept quietly up to the car and peered inside. Upon seeing the sleeping man in the car, they looked carefully around to make sure no one was nearby to see them. The coast was clear. The two men then murdered Mr. Jordan while he slept. The two men were so careful to insure that no one saw them that Mr. Jordan was not even reported missing until a few days later. In fact, no one even knew he had been murdered until his body was found floating in a river in South Carolina. There were no eye-witnesses, no finger prints to identify the criminals, and no other piece of hard evidence. However, the killers made one serious and glaring mistake. Mr. Jordan's car had a car phone inside. It had been installed for his convenience. The car phone actually led the police to the killers. The two men, after throwing the body in the river, decided they could use their "new" car phone to call some of their friends. What they did not know was that each call would be tracked by the phone company for billing purposes. When it was discovered that Mr. Jordan had been murdered, the phone company was able to retrieve information about every call that had been made from Mr. Jordan's car phone. This led the police to the stolen car and the two murderers. Despite their careful plans, they were caught and will now have to pay the price for their sin. Ahab never anticipated that his secret plans would be discovered either. He thought he would never be forced to pay the consequences for his sin. However, nothing is hidden from the eyes of God. God sees all our sin. The Bible says, "The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good" (Proverbs 15:3). The Bible says that God keeps a written record of all your sin. He will hold you accountable for what you have done. That's why Galatians 6:7 says, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." There is a way, though for you to have all your sins forgiven. God, the judge, has sent His Son to pay for sins at the cross. The Lord Jesus shed His blood and "the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7). Because of the work of the Lord Jesus, "through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins" (Acts 13:38). Are your sins forgiven?
