j g bellettThe Moral Glories of Our Lord -  A devotion regarding the Moral Glory in the character of the Lord Jesus.  All of his life went up to God as a sacrifice of sweet savour. Every expression of Himself in every measure, however small, and in whatever relationship it was rendered, was incense to his father.  Whatever Adam lacked, the Lord fulfilled completely in his perfect life.  J G Bellett was a brother from the United Kingdeom who wrote his works in the 1800's.

South Butler, Pennsylvania. September, 18, 1990. About 6:30 P.M. Grandma's back porch. Eleven year old, Aunt Jamie held two year old Steven. Powerful Rottweiler dogs next to the porch - six of them.

Jamie opened the dog pen door to let them run and turned back towards the porch.

Suddenly, one dog sprang at her grabbing little Steven by the throat. Jamie struggled hard to hang on. The dog was 100 pounds and strong. Jamie tried, but she lost the struggle.

The dog dragged Steven into the yard. More dogs joined the attack.

In desperation, Jamie plunged into the pile of dogs and the little boy. She couldn't pull them off. She tried to cover Steven with her own body. Snap! Powerful jaws shattered a bone in Jamie's wrist. The dogs bit again and again. Blood covered her hands and arms. The dongs wanted him, not her.

Finally, they tore him from her arms. Jamie fled to the house . 911! Police and paramedics raced to the scene. Jamie frantically waved her arms. "Please hurry. He's dead. I know he's dead. Help him" Jamie pleaded.

A policeman arrived. The dogs tossed Steven into the air like a rag doll. A policeman pulled his pistol and aimed at the dogs. Too dangerous. Not a clear shot. A blast with a fire extinguisher forced four dogs off Steven. Another long blast backed the other two away. Chris, a paramedic grabbed Steven. As he passed him over the fence, he saw him breathe. Steven was still alive!

Massive injuries. Dangerous blood loss. A tube in his throat to help him breathe. Fluids through a needle directly into his shin bone. A Life Flight Helicopter headed elsewhere redirected to pick up Steven. A Pittsburgh trauma center. Flesh missing from his head, neck, chest, arms and back. Thirteen and a half hours of surgery to close holes in a lung and jugular vein, a gash in his windpipe, and to sew up muscles. Blood transfusions. Constant critical care. Raging infection. Experimental drugs. exhausted nurses and doctors.

But.......

Stephen lived! Aunt Jamie did all she could to save him. It wasn't enough. She didn't have the ability even though she wanted to save him. The dogs were too big and too strong. Stephen neede professional help. In the capable hands of the paramedics and doctors, Stephen lived.

Jesus said about those that He saves, "...they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand... and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand" (John 10:28-29). Sin, death, and the Devil are too big and too strong for you. Jesus died and rose again. He is the only one who can save you now and forever.
