j g bellettThe Moral Glories of Our Lord -  A devotion regarding the Moral Glory in the character of the Lord Jesus.  All of his life went up to God as a sacrifice of sweet savour. Every expression of Himself in every measure, however small, and in whatever relationship it was rendered, was incense to his father.  Whatever Adam lacked, the Lord fulfilled completely in his perfect life.  J G Bellett was a brother from the United Kingdeom who wrote his works in the 1800's.

In-Ho-Ho was a young Korean man who had studied in the United States. He had graduated with honors from College outside of Philadelphia and was doing graduate studies in medicine. One night while mailing a letter to his family at home, he was attacked by a gang of boys. They surrounded him, robbed him of his change, and then beat him to death.

Everyone in the city of Philadelphia was shocked by the crime. the newspapers wrote about. People talked out it. Everyone was angry. Everyone wanted the boys to be caught and punished.

How ready would you be to forgive those boys for killing In-Ho-Ho?

Within three days, the police had captured the gang of boys and had them in prison. Everyone was happy that they had been caught and that justice would be done.

The boys were homeless boys. Their entire life had been one of living in the streets, learning the harder side of life. They were unable to read and write. They had no job training. They did nothing but rob, steal, and fight to survive.

The trial created lots of interest. In-Ho-Ho's parents flew to the United States to be present at the trial. They wanted to be there to see what would happen to the boys who killed their son. The parents did not say or do anything. They sat thought the entire trial, silent and without emotion.

Everyone was hoping for a guilty verdict and the death penalty. No one had any pity for the boys who had murdered the student.

The boys were judged by the jury to be guilty of killing In-Ho-Ho. Before the judge sentenced the boys, In-Ho-Ho's parents asked if they could speak. When they stepped forward, however, to appear before the judge, what they wanted was far different than anyone had suspected.

The parents begged for mercy for the murderers of their son. The parents were Christians. They wanted to have the opportunity to show kindness and mercy to them. They wanted to give the boys a home and to show them love. The parents told the judge that God had shown grace to them and have forgiven them. They would now like to show that same grace to others and to forgive the boys.

The judge said, "That is not the way our system works". We are not ready for that kind of forgiveness.

But God desires to forgive the guiltiest sinner who will come and receive His salvation through the Lord Jesus. "Be it known unto you therefore men and brethren, that through this Man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins." Acts 13:38.
