j g bellettThe Moral Glories of Our Lord -  A devotion regarding the Moral Glory in the character of the Lord Jesus.  All of his life went up to God as a sacrifice of sweet savour. Every expression of Himself in every measure, however small, and in whatever relationship it was rendered, was incense to his father.  Whatever Adam lacked, the Lord fulfilled completely in his perfect life.  J G Bellett was a brother from the United Kingdeom who wrote his works in the 1800's.

WHAT's IN YOUR FUTURE?

Astronomers look into space through huge telescopes and tell us what is out there. Doctors look at x-ray cameras and tell us what is inside us. Weather forecasters look at satellite pictures to tell us what is coming towards us. However, there is no machine, instrument, or person who can tell us what is in the future.

Some will guess. Some look at crystal balls, cards, lines on your palm, or out at the stars. However, no one knows what will happen in the future for sure. Even if a person guessed right once, they could never be right all the time. You couldn't trust them because there is always the possibility of being wrong.

Jean Dixon is a famous fortune-teller. People pay her to prophesy about the future. She has guessed a few times and been very close or right on occasion. However, she has been wrong many times as well. For example, she predicted World War III would begin in 1954. It didn't! How could you depend on the words of a person who may not be telling the truth?

The only person you could ever really trust to tell the future would be God. He has to be right all the time. So far, he has been absolutely correct.

In Bible times, it was easy to test whether someone was really a messenger from God or not. If he was 100 percent right all the time, than he was from God. If he was wrong once, people were not to believe him at all and actually put him to death.

Some religious people and groups claim to have special messages from God. Invariably, their predictions for the future fail. For example, the Watchtower Society of the Jehovah's witness religion promised Jesus would come back and live on earth in 1914. He didn't. They were wrong. If they are wrong on their predictions of the future, you shouldn't trust them for anything.

On the other hand, every promise the Bible has made about the future has come true. What are the chances of one book predicting that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem, live in Nazareth die by crucifixion, be buried in the tomb owned by a rich man, and come back to life again? Zip! Zero! Nada! The only way it could happen is if this book is the Word of God.

It all happened. In fact, the Bible made more than 300 promises about Jesus hundreds of years before he was born. Every one of them came true!

Therefore, when the Bible says you have sinned and do not deserve to be in Heaven - it is the truth. When the Bible says you can be in heaven because of the death of Christ - it is straight fact! You can be sure of heaven because God has promised, "He that heareth my word and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life" (John 5:24).
