Jim Batterton - That night, January 9, 1989, I paced around my room. All of the memory verses I had ever learned were racing through my mind. I knew I really needed to be saved, and as I became increasingly more upset, I was realizing that I really didn’t know how to be saved...
Memory Verse: Luke 1:37 Memory Verse Text: With God nothing shall be impossible.
Point 1: Israel now found out that their agreement with the Gibeonites was going to keep them from other things that the Lord had intended for them to do. Application: Satan often entraps us by causing us to become involved with others or things such that we are prevented from making progress. Point 2: Led by five kings in one accord, the Amorites mightily attacked the Gibeonites. The kings hated the fact that the Gibeonites had made peace with God's people and had turned from idolatry. Point 3: God continued to work with His people in spite of their presumption and lack of looking to Him. He revealed His might and power working through His people in the battle as well as in natural elements with the hail. In the midst of God's work, Joshua, a man, commanded the sun to stand still; it did until the battle was over. Point 4: There was no day like it before or since. However, there was a day near Jericho when the SON stood still, and that is a greater miracle than the first!
Notes: There is scientific evidence of this missed day in history. You should do some research and find a tract about this miracle; the class would be benefited by taking it home.
